Welcome to the New Proscenium!

The ancient Greeks are thought to be the creators of drama acted out in public forums, for the most part, outside. As the art form grew in popularity, stages were added to help accommodate larger crowds and increase visibility. Eventually, those outdoor stages would come to include partial walls to frame the performance. Typically, there would be a large arch above the stage, known as a Proscenium Arch. The term “scenery” comes from this word. The effect of these stages, framed by the arch, was a bolder, more dramatic performance. These elements are symbolic of the way we use art and theater to enhance our lives and fuel creativity.

Today we are proud to introduce you to “The Proscenium” in downtown Sandy, Utah. This name was chosen to add a sense of culture and history to our communities in the South Valley. We’ve built a stage, if you will, and framed it for all to see.

It is the new cultural hub of Utah. Welcome to “The Proscenium”.
